Calcium deposits in a rotator cuff tendon causing episodes of intense shoulder pain.
Overview

- Pain limiting movement, especially overhead
- Night pain
- Symptoms that can come in episodes
Causes
- Calcium deposition in a cuff tendon
- Altered tendon metabolism
- Often no single clear trigger
Treatment
- Pain management during acute flares
- Graded movement and strengthening
- Barbotage (needle aspiration) for stubborn deposits
- Injection or specialist input as needed
