Overview
A cervical disc herniation occurs when disc material pushes outward in the neck and may irritate a nerve root, causing arm symptoms. Most cases settle over weeks to months with conservative care.
Symptoms
- Neck pain, sometimes radiating into the arm
- Pins and needles or numbness in the hand
- Arm weakness in some cases
- Pain worse with certain neck positions
