Overview
A ganglion cyst is a benign, fluid-filled swelling arising from a joint or tendon sheath, most often on the back of the wrist. Many are painless and harmless; treatment is considered if they cause pain or limit movement.
Symptoms
- A smooth, round lump on the wrist or hand
- Size that may change over time
- Sometimes aching or weakness
- Discomfort with certain wrist positions
Causes
- Fluid leaking from a joint or tendon sheath
- Often no clear trigger

Treatment
