Single-Leg Hop for Distance

Purpose

Records maximal stable same-leg hop distance and between-limb symmetry.

Equipment

Measuring tape, clear landing area

Protocol

After appropriate readiness screening, hop forward from one leg and land on same leg; measure start line to landing heel. Record only valid stable landings, typically several attempts each limb.

Interpretation

Limb symmetry index = involved limb mean distance / uninvolved limb mean ×100. Symmetry alone is not clearance to return to sport.

Safety

Requires readiness and safe landing ability; screen pain/instability and follow phase-appropriate ACL protocol.
